2022 Cruising Programme

Hi Everyone

As ever at the heart of what we do.  We have an exciting series of cruises planned for 2022.  We have set out some brief details below.  2022 CQBHA Marina Bookings will go live in early February (see below for details).

We will keep you updated through our Website, Facebook Member’s Page and the Newsletter and directly if you have made a booking.

As we mentioned last year, Cruising for 2022 will be a bit more ‘self-led’ than before.  We will make the bookings and advise the marina of boats that have booked and circulate boat and contact details to those that have asked to go.  We will then leave it to the skippers to sort out details.  It may be useful for the skippers to choose to meet together on the night before the cruise – we would suggest 2000 hrs in the amenities block or Yacht Club  – to agree the leaving time, whether the weather is suitable etc.

It may or may not be that a committee member from CQBHA will be attending a particular cruise.  However, from receipt of your acknowledgement of booking members of the CQBHA team will be available to support and answer any questions that skippers may have – especially from those less experienced or more apprehensive skippers.  For example with additional navigational or pilotage tips.

In addition, as a result of our partnership with Powerboat Training UK based at Cobbs Quay we have arranged specific short courses on pilotage and navigation to help you be confident on the cruise which are available for a small donation to the RNLI.

As a committee we are still looking for a person or people to help with cruise planning and to be the person handling the cruise booking.  So, if you can help, let me know?  chairman@cqbha.org .

Please Note: The CQBHA cruise booking fee for each trip is £15. In the case of Lymington only they require an additional £10 as a deposit for each booking so £25 is the total fee for the Lymington trip booking.

Easter trip to Lymington Friday 15th – Monday 18th April 2022

Our first cruise of the season will see a trip up the Solent to Lymington Yacht Haven.  This is a new marina to us in recent times but a chance to have a look around the town of Lymington and it shops and pubs and experience the river with its ferries and bustling traffic.

Port Hamble Saturday 30th April – Monday 2nd May 2022

This is a chance to get to an MDL marina at Port Hamble.  Time to get the dinghy out and explore up river or simply kick back and chill.

This is a busy marina in the heart of the South Coast and is a favourite for many. Great for a scenic trip up the river in the dinghy towards Swanwick and beyond. The picturesque Hamble Village, with its inviting pubs and restaurants, is only a few minutes walk away.

Platinum Jubilee Holiday Cruise to Haslar – Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th June 2022

We make a return to Haslar Marina after many years.  This trip is planned as a Bank Holiday cruise with the plan to return to Cobbs on the Sunday but a chance for those on the cruise to extend it to a week away – before or after – to explore the far corners of Portsmouth Harbour to Port Solent.

The stay at this well-appointed marina where you can eat, drink, shop or just unwind has been booked.  The Mary Mouse is a must see.  If people want to extend the time, they will need to book the next venue (s) themselves.

From Haslar you can get a boat across to Portsmouth and also get some retail therapy at Gunwarf Quays.

Lock into Island Harbour Friday 1st July – Sunday 3rd July 2022

This trip may be a new one for most.  A late Friday afternoon trip to Island Harbour is a chance to go through a lock without it being too challenging after a gentle trip up the Medina past the previous venue of Shepards Wharf.

Not a trip to be missed if you would like to expand your boating skills.

Plot a course to Portland Marina Friday 29th July – Sunday 31st July 2022

As one of the newest marinas on the south coast, we thought it would be a good idea to pay Portland another visit. Heading west gives us a chance to take in the spectacular scenery and iconic landmarks of the Jurassic Coast!

It is planned as a two night stay starting with a blast down on the Friday afternoon to give you a chance to explore Chesil Beach and the Isle of Portland.  You could opt to extend the stay of course.

This cruise is ideal for smaller boats or for those who wanted to ‘dip their toe in the water’ of cruising in company.

Whistle down to Weymouth Saturday 27th – Monday 29th August 2022

Weymouth Marina still proves to be the most popular of our cruise destinations, marking the end of our Association cruising season. This small and friendly marina is a summer holiday destination for many, with its shops, bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

The marina was delighted to welcome us last year and have agreed to do so again.

Blast down to Exmouth Monday 29th August – Sunday 4th September 2022

Exmouth Marina is our new adventure of the cruising calendar.  A chance to finish off the year with a trip across Lyme Bay to Exmouth Marina.  The marina is situated right on the entrance to the river Exe and the town of Exmouth, with all its shops, pubs and restaurants is only a 5 minute walk from the marina, but there is The Point Bar & Grill, The Beach Pub and the Rockfish Restaurant right next to the Marina if you want the covenience of not wandering far.

This is a first for a CQBHA marina booking but there will only be 6 berths available initially, there is a chance of one or two more nearer the time if residents leave empty berths. On this trip we will be running a waiting list for extra berths if they become available.

This trip can be booked as a separate cruise – linking up with those leaving Weymouth – or as a follow-on cruise after the Weymouth Bank Holiday visit.

Surely something for everybody.  Hopefully we have put together a great programme so get booking as soon as you can.  Remember, it’s first come first served!!!
