Hi Everyone
As ever, cruising in company is at the heart of what we do, and we are planning an exciting series of marina cruises for 2025. The CQBHA Marina Cruises Programme will go live in early December and open for bookings on Saturday 2nd February 2025.
We will keep you updated through our Website, Facebook Member’s Page and the Newsletter and directly if you have made a booking.
Cruises are now free to attend There will be a £5 booking fee for each trip in 2025 but the fees paid for each cruise will be given to a cruise attendee to take on the cruise to use as a contribution towards, for example, a pontoon party?
This will, in effect, make cruises FREE to attend We wanted to do this to recognise the support of all our loyal cruising in company members, and to encourage new members to get involved with our cruising in company family.
Cruising on trips arranged by CQBHA is organised and led by the participating skippers. We make the bookings and advise the marina of boats that have booked and circulate boat and contact details to those that have asked to go. As the trip approaches we send out some general information to help with passage planning. It is then up to the skippers to sort out details. A few days before the cruise we arrange a Microsoft Teams meeting for participating skippers to discuss arrangements for the cruise. We also expect skippers to meet together on the night before the cruise as well– we suggest 2000 hrs in the amenities block or Yacht Club – to agree the leaving time, whether the weather is suitable amd trip contact channel etc.
After you have made your booking, members of the CQBHA Team are always available to support and answer any questions that skippers may have – especially from those less experienced or more apprehensive skippers. As well as the information notes this may be about passage planning or with additional navigational or pilotage tips.
In addition, as a result of our partnership with Powerboat Training UK based at Cobbs Quay we have arranged specific short courses on pilotage and navigation to help you be confident on the cruise which are available for a small donation to the RNLI.
As a committee we are still looking for a person or people to help with cruise planning and to be the person handling the cruise booking. So, if you can help, let me know? chairman@cqbha.org .
